Are Law Enforcement personnel allowed to break the laws that they are trained to enforce?

Goober W asked:

Before getting on the offensive about this question, let me explain. The reason I ask this is because I OFTEN see Law enforcement disregard traffic laws that I am to follow. For example, just this morning, a cop passed a truck in a no passing zone coming towards me. He/she was going at least 50 in a 35. There was nothing flashing, wailing, or blinking to indicate that he/she had an emergency. I have witnessed this numerous times by State and City police officers. I have actually had cops tail gate me and then pass me in frustration while I was doing the speed limit. You want me to get over? Then turn on your lights! You want me to get out of your way? Then turn on your lights! If I am to follow the traffic laws, then the law enforcement that enforces the law should follow them too. Wearing the uniform does not give police license to break the law; or does it? Set an example for us and stop violating the laws that we are to follow.
Sarge - you may be right…lol I would prefer they not annoy me when my family is my pov with me, because I have actually been forced into some dangerous situations due to the negligence of a speeding cruiser. Once again, turn on the lights and I will GLADLY get off the road!

Will your polling place be using electronic voting machines or punch cards, or other?

PIX-ED asked:

A couple of years ago we switched from punch cards (never had a problem) to electronic voting machines. The past two elections, the machines didn’t work for the first few hours and the personnel weren’t trained sufficiently to correct nor override the problems.
What have been your experiences?

martini0328 asked:

Okay, so I am a foreign national who recently got hired by a consulting firm based in the U.S. They sponsored for my H-1 Visa application, but the application was not approved.( The U.S. Custom and Immigration Services uses a lottery system) So now i am left with a Student F-1 Visa OPT which runs out at the end of 2008. I have talked to the Human Resource personnel of my hiring company about possibly transferring me to one of the Overseas branches for a year so we could try applying for an H-1 visa again next year. However, they are saying it’s hard to do.(not impossible. but they just don’t want to make that commitment to a new, untested recruit) Now ..the company hired me knowing that I was a foreigner and that getting an H-1 visa is a crapshoot. But now they are leaving me out to dry.

Can i sue them? I quit my old job for this new job, and they already replaced me so i cant even go back. I am , as you can imagine, very pissed.

Do you think that teachers and other school personnel, who are properly trained, should be armed?

Our world has certainly changed for the worse in many aspects of our lives. 24 years ago when I graduated high school we had firearms in our cars/trucks and we never dreamed of taking them into the school. Nothing was ever said about it, in fact it wasn’t against the law at the time. It really depended on the time of year or better yet the season in what kind of firearm we had in our truck. Deer rifle during deer season. Shotgun during dove, quail, and turkey season. 22 rifle the rest of the year. We were taught by our parents to have respect for others and ourselves and especially respect the power/responsibility that a firearm initials. Why has our world changed so much?
