the Board of Directors of the Economic Alliance have scheduled a meeting on [insert date two weeks from today] at one p.m. with Robert West, Mayor of Horrell Hill Judy Ledbetter, President of County Council and Wayne Roxbury Director of the state Film Office. The primary purpose of the meeting is to discuss the exciting agreement among the city and roselawn studios to film the movie “North Star Nights” here.
Mr Roxbury said recently that the film, ‘Will give a boost to the cities diverse economy. The production will spend money on food housing, offices, utilities, furniture, equipment, personnel, security, rentals transportation, and many other goods and services.’ He estimated that “North Star Nights” will bring $50,000 in revenues to the area. Incidently, the producer plans to hire seventy-five local people mostly high school and college students as extras.
The alliance will also review Bob Smith’s and Tom Graham’s proposal to upgrade the conference room and shift form portable projection equiptment to a stationery multimedia platform for presentations to visiting prospects. The funds are available for the project permission is needed to build a base platform which is twelve feet long, six feet deep, and ten inches high. The multimedia podium will be mounted on this base platform.
The last item proposed is a plan to beautify rosewood boulevard between 1st Street and 9th Street. This area is the gateway too our city and needs to be enhanced with landscaping, benches, and appropriate lighting to create a postive first impression for visitors. The landscape architect who we have consulted has provided a cost estimate for the project. We have 2/3 of the amount on hand. a architectural drawing of the area will be on display at the meeting.
The Board welcome your comments or suggestions on these topics before the meeting. Please send them to Anita or I as early as possible.

With today’s tech, would it be possible to construct a suit of powered armor for soldiers?

Kamikaze asked:

A set of powered armor such as the one depicted in, for example, the video game “Fallout Tactics”(see bottom) would be extremely beneficial to today’s military by not only providing complete protection from automatic assault firearms and anti-personnel sized explosions, but by giving the soldier a sort of superhuman strength to the hands, torso, arms, and legs. Not to mention an array of other technological capabilities such as squad and command level communication, biological chem attacks, satellite communication abilities, and night/heat vision attachments all inside just the helmet. As far as agility goes, certain movements would be restricted, but the suit would still be agility effective enough on the battlefield to take cover if need be. Prone and crouch would still be done with ease. It’s no doubt practical. But, considering today’s technology with advancements in micro-motor research, robotics, and engineering, would it be possible to construct such a piece of skeletal robotic armor? Given, it may be very costly, the idea undoubtedly promises fantastic results, it just needs to be engineered by the right hands to make it a reality. The reason I ask here, I’m not so much an engineer as I am an idealist. I figure it best consult ones whom are more experienced in the field. Plus, it couldn’t hurt for some input and friendly discussion.

Example of robotic powered strength:

A more condensed and less powerful version of this would all be that’s needed. Enough to be agile enough to move in the metal alloy exo-skeletal armor.

A fictional sketch of what the exo skeletal armor could look like:

should the contents of the peace negotiations of grp-milf be subject to public scrutiny or remain a secret?

STATEMENT ON THE GRP-MILF MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
(a.k.a. Draft Deed of Sale for Mindanao to the MILF and their OIC Sponsors)

We are stating under no uncertain terms our most vigorous objections to the GRP-MILF Memorandum of Agreement as presented for signing today in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This is a SELLOUT of all the good, law-abiding and tax-paying residents of Mindanao who have not been consulted nor whose opinions considered in the drafting of this sham deal.

This is a CAPITULATION of a National Government proven now to be feeble and inutile against a mere band of brigands and bandits, professional kidnappers, murderers, and thieves.

This is the SURRENDER of 87 million Filipinos and its Armed Forces of 113,500 active duty personnel and 131,000 reserve personnel, equipped and fed by taxes which we pay, to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) and their 12,000-strong Bangsamoro Army.

This is the Government’s RANSOM to the blackmail, the extortion, and the ‘blood money’ that the MILF and its cohorts (i.e. MNLF, JI, Al Qaeda, Abu Sayyaf, OIC, Malaysia) have constantly threatened our “strong republic” with.

This is an INSULT to the memory of all the pioneers, builders and leaders, both Muslim and Christian, Filipinos all, who have made Mindanao the home to 16 million, and an integral part of our one nation.

This is a BETRAYAL of the Constitution of the Republic, a public contract affirmed by Filipinos, and consistently rejected by the proponents of this Bangsamoro Homeland and their foreign allies.

WE ARE FILIPINOS. We regret that the President and her lieutenants have opted to kow tow to the demands of people who do not consider themselves Filipinos (i.e. Bangsamoro) or who are not Filipino at all (i.e. OIC, Malaysia, Jemaah Islamiyah, Al Qaeda).

WE ARE FILIPINOS. We are willing to shed our own blood to defend the nation which our forefathers fought hard to build. We have been struggling all our lives, this is just another phase in the continuing struggle of our nation.

WE ARE FILIPINOS. We have worked long and hard To follow the laws of the land, pay our just taxes on time, invested our lives and our families’ lives, supported our government, and we have done our part to make this republic worth every drop of blood that our forefathers shed for it.

NOW THEREFORE, with as much certainty as we are sure that the sun will once again rise at dawn tomorrow, we say this: if anybody, anyone, any thing or any group will move to dismember the country we so love… THEN THERE WILL BE WAR. BLOOD WILL BE SHED. AND, PEOPLE WILL DIE.

THIS IS NOT A THREAT. This is the reality of a Mindanao that is fed up and is raring to prove to the whole world that no one, no President nor Pauper can give us away, nor can anyone enslave us, even if it were at the point of a gun, for WE WILL FIGHT. WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN. AND, WITH THE HELP OF THE ALMIGHTY, WE SHALL ULTIMATELY BE VICTORIOUS.

WE STRONGLY APPEAL THEREFORE, to the good members of the Senate and the House of Representatives to let the real voice of the people of Mindanao be heard once and for all. We ask that you reject the GRP-MILF Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain, and we ask that you reject any Government recognition that may be bestowed on a Bangsamoro Juridical Entity. The people of Mindanao have already spoken twice, overwhelmingly, against these foreign impositions. To the Government: Do not ask us again, you might not like the answer.

FINALLY, REMEMBER ONLY THIS: Mindanao is neither Muslim nor Christian, but it is, and always will be, FILIPINO!

GOD BLESS THE PHILIPPINES!

Doesn’t this show McCain’s true colours? The same?

http://www.newsweek.com/id/136321
“After John McCain nailed down the Republican nomination in March, his campaign began wrestling with a sensitive personnel issue: who would manage this summer’s GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn.? The campaign recently tapped Doug Goodyear for the job, a veteran operative and Arizonan who was chosen for his “management experience and expertise,” according to McCain press secretary Jill Hazelbaker. But some allies worry that Goodyear’s selection could fuel perceptions that McCain—who has portrayed himself as a crusader against special interests—is surrounded by lobbyists. Goodyear is CEO of DCI Group, a consulting firm that earned $3 million last year lobbying for ExxonMobil, General Motors and other clients.

Kind of trumps Obama’s pastor.
