What evidence does anyone have that the U.S. or other world Militaries personnel are unintelligent?

Commodevil asked:

I’m just wondering considering most jobs in the Military especially the more advanced ones require extensive class room training as well as field training. Even Combat MOS’s have to be able to calculate complicated Algebra (Alt and grid locations for MEDVACS and even Basic Location) under combat stress.

I know this isn’t a belief held by many but why do you all think it’s the common perception.
sportswriter47 were exactly do you get the evidence that we dont think for ourselves…

thank you for not awnsering my questions
If the US Army started thinking for its self you would have much bigger problems then you do now…All it would take is one general to decide he wanted to be king of the US and no one could stop him.

We go were we are told it is a CIVILIANS responsibility to moderate what wars are fought so start doing your damn job if you don’t like it.
You are still equating the acceptance of the duty and following and taking orders to intelligence. That is exactly my point under what pretense other then your personal opinion drives you to that conclusion from were I can see its bogus all people Civilian and Military Alike do this it is simply the act of doing what your boss tells you if your actually denying this then you leave me to conclude that its an un answerable question due to the cultural obsession with opinion over solid facts and research.
I am attempting to research this fact now and all I can come up with is the confusion between Military cultural conduct and a need for a population to blame someone other then themselves. Every member of a society is responsible for the actions of its government that is clearly labeled in the U.S. Constitution. Perhaps this conclusion is also just dated in that I accept that in times past Military members were often the drafted lower class unfortunately we are talking about volunteers
:Soldier, I think you just shot yourself in the foot…we go where we’re told to go and yes, you are right, it is civies that control the wars but let’s face it, disgree with Bush or America and you could end up intimidated, invaded or microwaved! ”

That very well may be true but it is not the Question. Further, a lot of countries (i.e. France, Iran, Russia) object to the U.S. Government without reprisal do not let anger objectify your opinion. I’ve seen war and its usually caused by intelligent people following a group think to a conclusion they never think out because they are angry…the only truth in the world is one truth a man or women finds for him or herself.

What do you think of this audit by the Iraq special inspector general?

Middleclassandnotquiet asked:

WASHINGTON - The U.S. government wasted tens of millions of dollars in Iraq reconstruction aid, including scores of unaccounted-for weapons and a never-used camp for housing police trainers with an Olympic-size swimming pool, investigators say.According to the report, the State Department paid $43.8 million to contractor DynCorp International for the residential camp for police training personnel outside of Baghdad’s Adnan Palace grounds that has stood empty for months. About $4.2 million of the money was improperly spent on 20 VIP trailers and an Olympic-size pool, all ordered by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior but never authorized by the U.S. U.S. officials spent another $36.4 million for weapons such as armored vehicles, body armor and communications equipment that can’t be accounted for.

I know that the military covers cosmetic surgery for soldiers so that their medical personnel can get their training. Does orthognathic (jaw) surgery for an anterior cross-bite (under-bite) fit into this benefit?

Sentinal asked:

Somalia Pirates? These ships are big, and ride high on the water. It wouldn’t take more than a few well trained troops to kill them all before they get on board. That is, unless the Crews are involved in it too.
VERY good idea Red Rooster.

Do AF personnel really get compensated for staying in Army barracks?

desiderio asked:

I’ve heard that if Air Force personnel are training in an area where they’re required to stay in Army barracks/billeting, that they get compensated for sub-standard living conditions. Is that true?
Hey, don’t be mean. I didn’t make it up, I said I’d heard it. And I didn’t say it was right or made sense. I was just curious. And I’m sure it would depend on location, but it wouldn’t surprise me.
My BIL is an E2 in the AF and has a house with almost the square footage as his parents. My Army E6 husband and I just “upgraded” in Feb. from stairwell housing to a different apartment with “more” footage but less space, go figure. Our new livingroom barely holds our couch.
