How to sign up as civilian culinary personnel for U.S. forces in Iraq?

personnel training
Michael S asked:

A relative of mine is a chef and called me today wondering out loud about what it would take to sign on as a chef for U.S. troops in Iraq. He’s got top-notch training but is between jobs at the moment and thought that this might be an opportunity for a change of scenery while putting his skills to use. Any ideas on how he could get started with something like this?

No political commentary, please. Just answer the question.

He should look at sites for contractors like KBR and contractors like that who hire people to cook for the troops

Not all contractors in Iraq are security in fact a low percent of them are most are people who do service work

Join the Army and ask for Food Service as a choice of jobs.
They do not have chef in the Army — they prepare meals for 500 soldiers three times a day. Hardly time for the chef touch of class…

Tell him to try kbr.com they have most of the food service contracts overseas.
