the Board of Directors of the Economic Alliance have scheduled a meeting on [insert date two weeks from today] at one p.m. with Robert West, Mayor of Horrell Hill Judy Ledbetter, President of County Council and Wayne Roxbury Director of the state Film Office. The primary purpose of the meeting is to discuss the exciting agreement among the city and roselawn studios to film the movie “North Star Nights” here.
Mr Roxbury said recently that the film, ‘Will give a boost to the cities diverse economy. The production will spend money on food housing, offices, utilities, furniture, equipment, personnel, security, rentals transportation, and many other goods and services.’ He estimated that “North Star Nights” will bring $50,000 in revenues to the area. Incidently, the producer plans to hire seventy-five local people mostly high school and college students as extras.
The alliance will also review Bob Smith’s and Tom Graham’s proposal to upgrade the conference room and shift form portable projection equiptment to a stationery multimedia platform for presentations to visiting prospects. The funds are available for the project permission is needed to build a base platform which is twelve feet long, six feet deep, and ten inches high. The multimedia podium will be mounted on this base platform.
The last item proposed is a plan to beautify rosewood boulevard between 1st Street and 9th Street. This area is the gateway too our city and needs to be enhanced with landscaping, benches, and appropriate lighting to create a postive first impression for visitors. The landscape architect who we have consulted has provided a cost estimate for the project. We have 2/3 of the amount on hand. a architectural drawing of the area will be on display at the meeting.
The Board welcome your comments or suggestions on these topics before the meeting. Please send them to Anita or I as early as possible.
